Occupational therapy is about function — getting back to work after an injury, staying safe and independent at home, or helping a child manage a school day. Our Chilliwack occupational therapists work with adults, seniors, and children throughout the community and the surrounding Fraser Valley.
Function-focused rehabilitation after a crash, including pain and fatigue management, activity tolerance, and a graded return to work and driving — important for the many Chilliwack residents who commute along Highway 1.
Job demands analysis, work conditioning, and graduated return-to-work planning, including the agricultural, trades, and manufacturing roles common across the eastern Fraser Valley.
Home safety and falls-prevention assessments for single-family homes, acreages, and rural properties, where stairs, driveways, and outdoor access are frequent concerns.
Sensory processing, fine motor and printing skills, self-regulation, feeding, and school readiness.
Equipment recommendations and safe set-up for returning home after a hospital stay.
Workstation setup for office, hybrid, and home-based work.
Chilliwack is spread out, with rural and acreage properties well outside the town centre, and travelling to an appointment is not always realistic after an injury or for a senior living alone.
Community visits solve that, and they usually produce a better assessment: a therapist can only properly evaluate a stair rail, a bathroom transfer, a farm workspace, or a rural entryway by being there. Visits run 9am to 9pm every day.
Occupational therapy in Chilliwack may be funded through ICBC, WorkSafeBC, extended health benefits, or paid privately. Swift Health direct bills ICBC and WorkSafeBC, so most people can begin without paying up front. If you are unsure what you are covered for, contact us and we will help you check before your first session.
No. You can book privately without a physician referral. Some extended health plans ask for one before they will reimburse, so it is worth checking your specific policy first.
Our Chilliwack occupational therapists currently have availability and are accepting new clients. Call or text 604-800-5542 and we will let you know the soonest assessment we can offer, in the office or as a community visit.
ICBC can fund occupational therapy as part of your recovery, but it works differently from other treatments. Physiotherapy, kinesiology, massage therapy, chiropractic, acupuncture and counselling are pre-approved for the first 12 weeks and need only your claim number. Occupational therapy is arranged by speaking with your ICBC recovery specialist, usually once a health care provider has recommended it. Swift Health direct bills ICBC.
An occupational therapist assesses how an injury, illness, disability, or developmental difference affects the everyday activities you need and want to do, then builds a practical plan to restore independence. That can mean retraining a task, changing how it is done, recommending equipment, or modifying the environment around you.
