"I'm currently pursuing my Master’s in Counselling Psychology and have a strong background in supporting individuals with disabilities and mental health challenges. I've worked as a behavior interventionist with children with ASD and ADHD, and also as a support worker for individuals with complex needs, including non-verbal clients and those who engage in self-injurious behavior. Additionally, I’ve taken on supervisory roles in a café setting, where I developed strong organizational and leadership skills. Right now, I’m especially focused on gaining more experience in mental health support and community-based services, which is why I’m really interested in this opportunity."
"I currently work as a Behaviour Interventionist, as well as a Program Worker supporting individuals with mental illness through a Transitional Employment program. In these roles, I’ve gained hands-on experience supporting neurodiverse individuals, including those with ASD and ADHD, as well as individuals navigating various mental health challenges. I also have experience as a support worker for clients with disabilities, including non-verbal individuals and those who engage in self-injurious behaviours."
"I’ve always been inspired by the idea of helping people feel seen, heard, and supported—especially those who have faced systemic barriers or challenges in their lives. Working with individuals with disabilities and mental health conditions has shown me how powerful it can be when someone feels truly understood and empowered. One moment that really stuck with me was when I worked with a non-verbal client who, over time, became comfortable expressing themselves in small but meaningful ways. It reminded me that progress looks different for everyone, and even small wins can be life-changing. That sense of purpose and connection is what keeps me motivated—it’s knowing that the work I do can help people feel more capable, connected, and hopeful."
"I actually found my path through hands-on experience. I started working as a behavior interventionist with children with ASD and ADHD, and I quickly realized how much I enjoyed building trust and helping clients grow in their own ways. That experience opened my eyes to the impact of mental health support, not just on individuals but also on families and communities. From there, I worked as a support worker for individuals with complex needs, and it became clear to me that I wanted to deepen my skills and understanding—so I decided to pursue a Master’s in Counselling Psychology. It’s been a meaningful journey, and every step has reinforced that this is the work I want to be doing."
