Role
Nushabah Zakir is a founder of Swift Health and an Occupational Therapist (OT). She splits her time between being a clinical director and a practicing OT.
Professional Background
Nushabah is a registered occupational therapist with College of Occupational Therapists of British Colombia (COTBC) and with the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists (CAOT).

Nushabah completed her Masters in Science in Occupational Therapy in 2014, and began her career as an OT working with paediatric population. She is a registered autism service provider (RASP) as well as a provider for the Community Brain Injury Program for Children and Youth of BC. Nushabah also has experience working with adult population providing medical/legal services to clients involved in motor vehicle accidents(MVA). Nushabah has obtained further training and is certified in:
- Functional Capacity Evaluations
- Cost of Future Care Assessments
- Progressive Goal Attainment Program (PGAP)
- Cogmed Working Memory Training
Prior to becoming an OT, Nushabah worked as a marketing intern for a non-profit organization as well as a Child Protection Case Worker for the Government of Saskatchewan. She is fluent in English, Urdu, Pahari, Hindi, and professional working proficiency in Punjabi.
Inspirations | Motivations
Experiences including seeing a child go from not being able to write a single letter of the alphabet and then to be able to write their name in a birthday card for their mom is what motivates Nushabah. Additionally, an individual involved in a traumatic MVA returning to driving again inspires her to work.
Nushabah was involved in an MVA at the age of 8, being hit by a car while crossing the street. Her personal recovery process helps her connect with clients.
What Led Them Here
Prior to Swift Health, Nushabah worked for private OT organizations. She noticed OTs including herself spending significant time doing non-clinical OT work due to lack of technology applications available specifically for OTs and other rehabilitation professionals. Her brother Mubashshir, a software developer helped create an app to let rehabilitation workers focus on what they do best, therapy and leave everything else to technology. Swift Health was created as a modern tech healthcare company!
Personal Life
Nushabah loves exploring different parks and hiking trails with her baby Adam and husband Amil. She enjoys trying different cuisines and watching Pakistani dramas with her mom.
